Many of Moose Point's hunters arrive in time for bear hunting. Guides are available at reasonable rates.
BEAR HUNTING
Maine's bear population has continued to remain healthy. A hunt is necessary to insure the bear's survival in the wild. It is nearly impossible for an individual to spot a bear in the wilderness. Their keen sense of smell over many miles, "tells" bears everything they need to know about a food source. SO...never approach a bear (although bears would generally not remain visible). If a sow and small cubs are sighted, it would be a good opportunity to leave. Be sure to consult with camp staff regarding any of Maine's big game hunts.
A Maine Black Bear just hanging around.
A very rare sighting - Black Bear "out for a walk." It is very important to STAY AWAY from such a lone bear. Remember that a bear can sprint to 35 mph often catching prey.
A lucky day for this party of hunters.
Every man gets his bear.
TAXIDERMY
Imagine creating an heirloom of the game you were successful in hunting. One of the best taxidermists in the country is Eldon Jandreau. Eldon is also a resident of Portage Lake, Maine. He's been creating elegant memories for over 30 years.

Taxidermy is every bit "an art." In less that a month, you can have an heirloom on your favorite wall.
